The optional tour aims at showing congress participants and their accompanying persons the historical sites, its natural beauty and cultural abundance. Yongduam
Yongduam Rock & Yongyeon Pond are highly recommended late night driving courses. Yongduam Rock, known as one of Jeju Island's main attractions, is a group of strangely-shaped rocks rising 10m high on the western coast of Jeju City. The rocks are shaped like the head of a dragon that is about to fly off. According to an early Korean legend, a dragon that came to steal a jade ball from Mt. Halla was shot by an arrow that belonged to the god living in the mountain. The injured dragon sunk into the sea but raised its head which was locked permanently while staring into the sky.
Botanical Garden Yeomiji
Located within Jungmun Resort, Botanical Garden Yeomiji is the best botanical garden in Asia with a southern ambience. The indoor garden contains approximately 2,000 rare tropical and subtropical plants including Flower Garden, Water Lily Garden, Jungle Garden, Subtropical Fruits Garden, Cactus and Succulent Garden, and Observation Platform. The outdoor garden houses, Jeju Native Garden, as well as Korean, Japanese, Italian and French folk gardens. Tour train accommodating 60 persons lies between Indoor and Outdoor Garden.
Jeongbang Waterfall
Jeongbang Waterfall is the only water fall in Asia that falls directly into the ocean. On the wall of the water fall, there is an inscription written “Seobulgwacha”, referring to Seobul passing by this place. Seobul was a servant of the Chinese Emperor Jin (BC 259~210) who was ordered by the Emperor to find the substance that would make him immortal. Seogwipo is also said to have gotten its name to mean Seobul headed back west.
Seongeup Folk Village
If Jeju Folk Village recreated the living quarters of Jeju's people, Seongeup Folk Village is the actual living place of Jeju residents.
Located 8km above the coast, Seongeup Folk Village shows the characteristics of old commoners' houses and traditional lifestyles of Jeju in a straightforward manner. It preserves the unique culture of Jeju Island just as it is. Also, there are Jeju natives living in each of the houses who will personally show you around the village.
Seongsan Ilchulbong Peak
Seongsan Ilchulbong Peak rose from under the sea in a volcanic eruption about 100,000 years ago. Located on the eastern end of Jeju Island, there is a huge crater at the top of Seongsan Ilchulbong Peak. The crater is about 600m in diameter and 90m high. With the 99 sharp rocks surrounding the crater, it looks like a gigantic crown. While the southeast and north sides are cliffs, the northwest side is a hill with grass that is connected to the Seongsan Village.
Manjang Cave
Manjang Cave is one of the finest lava tunnels in the world, and is a designated natural monument. A lava tunnel is formed when the lava that was deep in the ground spouts from the peak and flows to the surface. Manjang Cave has a variety of interesting structures inside including 70cm lava stalagmites and the lava tube tunnels.
Sangumburi Crater
Sangumburi is a crater with a circumference of over 2 km, designated as Natural Monument. It is located on the southeast side of Jeju-si, and is a flat crater, about 650 meters wide, 100 meters deep, and 2,070 meters in circumference. If you look at the crater from above up, it looks like a man-made circular stadium.
Jeju Nature & Folklore Museum
Jeju Nature & Folklore Museum haws an extensive collection of the island's unique folk and natural materials. At the entrance is an enormous mounting of a 8.6m long shark, a 4.7m wide ray, and a whale weighing 4t that attracts the public right away. The museum is divided into 4 different exhibition halls with the theme of nature display, folklore display, special display, etc. showing a total of over 3,000 relics of the past. There is also a room screening/showing visual materials 4 times a day as well as an outdoor display.
Cheonjeyeon Waterfall
Cheonjeyeon Waterfall, named 'The pond of God', consists of 3 parts. Around the falls, there are rare plants such as ‘solipnan’ reeds. There is a cave in the east and from the ceiling cold water pours down creating the waterfall. The water from the first waterfall becomes the second and third waterfalls and flows into the sea
