The optional tour is scheduled through out ICME-12. There is additional charge to participate the tour programs respectively. The optional tour aims at showing congress participants and their accompanying persons the historical sites, its natural beauty and cultural abundance. Suwon Hwaseong Fortress
Designated as Historic Site No. 3, Hwaseong was constructed by Jeongjo, the 22nd king of the Joseon Dynasty, in the late 18th Century. New scientific techniques like the use of bricks and cranes were added to traditional methods in the building of this castle.
Korean Folk Village
The Korean Folk Village, which vividly recreates the lifestyle of the Joseon Period, is nestled 41 kilometers south of Seoul where clear streams flow through lush forests. The total area of 66,550 square meters embraces a government office, a forge, a pottery kiln, a village school, a rice cake shop and a 99-room nobleman's residence. It also contains about 270 farmhouses that feature the characteristics of each region.
