The purpose of the International Group for Mathematical Creativity and Giftedness (https://www.igmcg.org), an affiliate of the International Commission on Mathematical Instruction (https://www.mathunion.org/icmi), is to bring together mathematics educators, K – 12 teachers, mathematicians, researchers, and others who are interested in nurturing and supporting the development of mathematical creativity and the realization of mathematical promise and mathematical giftedness, promoting the improvement of teaching and learning mathematics, and widening students’ abilities to apply mathematical knowledge in innovative and creative ways. You can join MCG for free on their website. For only the second time in the United States, they will be hosting their 12th International Conference in Las Vegas, Nevada, September 25 – 28, 2022. Considered the premier conference of its type in the world, this conference will have a focus on mathematical expertise and innovation. In addition, the conference is set in Las Vegas and will be completely held at the Alexis Park All Suite Resort and Conference Center, just steps from the world-famous Las Vegas Strip, where suites start at only $79 a night. The opening session on Sunday will feature Karl Schaffer and Erik Stern. With a special focus on thorough, yet playful, integration of dance and mathematics, their presentations at the conference will include opportunities to experience physical, creative problem solving, as well as sharing insights that they have gained through their work together and separately. Keynote speakers include Yeap Ban Har from Singapore, Zalman Usiskin from the United States, and Marianne Nolte from Germany. Keep an eye on the conference website for additional information on these and other outstanding speakers. Please consider submitting a proposal to speak yourself. Proposals, including brief papers for the proceedings are due by Feb. 15, 2022. Electronic proceedings will be available prior to the conference.
