The “AIMS Senegal” conference was held in Senegal during the period 1-5 July, 2019. The conference focussed on french-speaking African young researchers. The summer school targeted master students and PhD candidates and gathered young researchers around a scientific event of high level in statistics and data science. The organizing committee was composed of members of the Young Statistician Section of the French Statistical Society (sFdS) and members of AIMS Senegal.
Three main courses were offered:
- Machine learning, Thierry Artieres (Professor Laboratoire d’Informatique et Systemes (LIS), Ecole Centrale Marseille & Université d’Aix-Marseille, France)
- Introduction to targeted learning, Antoine Chambaz (Professor Université Paris Descartes, Laboratoire Mathématiques Appliquées Paris 5, France)
- Statistics for environmental data, Sophie Dabo-Niang (Professor Laboratoire Lille Economie Management (LEM), Université Charles De Gaulle (Lille 3), France)
