The 2024 IDM theme is “Playing with Math”.

You just discovered the theme at the last minute?  No problem if it is too late to organize a big celebration.  You can just decide to make a special event in your classroom, for instance by using some of the material proposed on the website. In particular, the Art Gallery Problem is so rich that it can be interesting from secondary level to university level. A new activity on Math Games presents several variants of the classical game of Nim, the Ultimate tic-tac-toe, and the general problem of placing chess queens on polyominos.

This virtual IDM 2024 Webinar will take place at 13:00 UTC on March 14, 2024, with the theme: “Playing with Mathematics for Society”.  It is organized jointly by UNESCO, IDM, IMU and the International Decade of Sciences for Sustainable Development 2024–2033 (IDSSD).

The webinar will address the many ways in how playing with mathematics can contribute to the achievement of the SDGs.  Please help us spreading the announcement in your community and to university students.

The IDM 2024 map will remain open until the end of March 2024.  It is still time to post your IDM events if you haven’t done so.

The 2024 Creative Math Remix Challenge is open until March 11.  From March 14 onwards, you can visit on the IDM website the galleries of remixes received for the IDM 2024 challenge.
