The Conference for Study 21 'Mathematics Education and Language Diversity' just began in Aguas de Lindoia, São Paulo, Brazil.
At first, co-chairs Mamokgethi Setati (South Africa) and Maria do Carmo Domite (Brazil) said in a few words which was the goal of the conference, the preparation of the StudyBook. Then the Conference began with a plenary talk by linguist Marilyn Martin-Jones that gave a good idea to all present of the more recent tools and trends linguists use to analyze language diversity.
The participants are divided in 3 groups and report back to plenary daily. Provocations are made daily and some are written in the walls. The ambiance is extraordinary and the place chosen inspiring. The weather is marvelous.
