The ICM is organised under the auspices of the IMU. The guidelines for the organisation of the congresses have been set by the IMU and are followed by the Local Organising Committee which is responsible for all the practical arrangements. The academic programme of invited talks is decided upon by a Programme Committee appointed by the IMU Executive Committee and the Local Organising Committee implements it.

The Congress opens with a ceremony at which the IMU Prizes are awarded. The main academic program is drawn up by a Program Committee appointed by the IMU Executive Committee.

A Local Organising Committee with members drawn from institutions all over the coutnry has been formed.

A more compact (local) Executive Organising Commitee has also been formed and it is this committee that will bear the responsibility for all practical aspects of the organisation of the ICM. This is the Committee that will liaise with the Executive Committee of the IMU as well as the Program Committee of the ICM-2010.

In addition a National Advisory Committee has also been formed.
