The "9na Escuela de Matemática de América Latina y el Caribe" in Bolivia took place at Universidad Mayor de San Andrés in La Paz, located at an elevation of about 11,811 feet above sea level. The aims of the school were to put young students in contact with relevant topics of current interest and to encourage the most outstanding to continue postgraduate studies. Professors Wolfgang Kliemann (Iowa State Universtity), Rafael Labarca (Universidad de Santiago de Chile), Martin Sambarino (Universidad de la República de Uruguay) and Daniel Juan Pineda (Universidad Nacional de México) gave two talks each one. Professors Milton Jara (Instituto de Matemática Pura e Aplicada), Luz de Teresa (Universidad Autónoma de México), Mario Ponce (Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile) and Adolfo Guillot (Universidad Autónoma de México) gave four courses of six sessions each. Nine students from Peru and thirty students from Bolivia, from whom ten were not from La Paz, participares of this two weeks undergraduate school.
