Here you can find out more about previous programs offered by the IMU-CDC, often in collaboration with other partner institutions. Please note that these programs have now been closed. For current programs, please refer to the overview page. 

Individual Travel Support Program

This program covered travel and living costs for research visits (minimum stay is four weeks) of mathematicians based in developing and economically disadvantaged countries. Host institutions co-sponsored the visit by covering the local living expenses (where possible). Priority was given to applicants that received support from the host institution. This program was fully funded by the IMU-CDC. 

IMU – Simons African Fellowship Program 2016 - August 2023

This program supported research sabbaticals for mathematicians from African developing countries employed in Africa to travel to an internationally known mathematical centre of excellence (worldwide) for collaborative research. All travel and living expenses of the grantees were be covered by the fellowship up to 5,000 USD. This program was funded by the Simons Foundation. 

IMU Simons Travel Fellowship Program 2013-2017 

This program supported travel  and living costs for research visits (minimum stay is four weeks) by mathematicians based in developing and economically disadvantaged countries. Host institutions are ask to help covering the local living expenses (if possible). Priority will be given to applicants that receive support from the host institution. This program was funded by the Simons Foundation. 

African Diaspora Mathematicians Program (ADMP)

The ADMP program ran for two years (May 2017 - June 2019) and involved a total of three partnerships.

By tapping into the expertise of diaspora mathematicians, the program supported partnerships between African mathematicians based outside of Africa with institutions in their home countries to provide guidance and support to mathematics departments. Activities supported under this program included conference organization, training schools, teaching and supervision of postgraduate students.

This program was partially supported by the Niels Henrik Abel Board.
