Prof. Christopher Thron from Texas A&M University-Central Texas visited the University of Dschang (Dschang, Cameroon) from 17 May-10 June (Dschang). Subject and title of the course: Finite Elements.the course was given daily to 16 first year Masters students. The following topics were covered during the visit: Linear Algebra background (vector component formula) Physical derivation of 1D PDE’s; Green’s formula; definition and examples of weak derivative; derivation of PDE weak form; Formulas for finite elements in 1 and 2 dimensions; Using FreeFEM to solve 2D PDEs; Python tutorial; writing 1D and 2D finite element programs in Python. The course was conducted in French.
