Below you will find an overview of all grantees awarded in 2018 under the Graduate Assistantships in Developing Countries program.
Two students were awarded a GRAID grant in the research group led by Principal Investigator, David Ssevviiri (Makerere University , Uganda), with International Partner, Michael Wemyss (University of Glasgow, UK).
As graduate assistants of the research group, their research focused on algebra and algebraic geometry. Brian’s thesis was entitled “Computing the Artin component using reconstruction algebras” whereas Caroline’s thesis was entitled ‘’Pure braids and group actions from 3-fold flops”.
With the support of the GRAID program, both Caroline Namanya and Brian Makonzi successfully completed their Ph.D. Caroline is currently teaching at Nkozi University whereas Brian is teaching at Muni University.
