The CIMPA research school “ Elliptic curves: Arithmetic and Computation " was organized by CIMPA in conjunction with the Universidad de la República in Montevideo, Uruguay. It was held at the Universidad de la República, Montevideo, from the 11th to the 22th of Febraury 2019. The scientific program of the school was very interconnected as one of the main goals of the school was to developed the theory of elliptic curves from its very beginning to the level needed to understand and appreciate the Birch and Swinnerton Dyer conjecture. Another aspect that was dwelled on was that of explicit computations, in particular there were several classes on computation with the PARI/GP software. There were two extra session of exercises in the second week and students were very eager to present solutions to the problems assigned.
