Dear Colleague,

This circular letter specifies the application procedure indicated in the circular letter of September 15, 2000 (Financial Support for Mathematicians from Developing Countries and Eastern Europe) for grants supporting Mathematicians from Eastern Europe and Independent States of the Formal Soviet Union to attend ICM2002. The funds are given by the CMS (Chinese Mathematical Society). The CMS has set up a committee, called Committee for Support of Mathematicians from Eastern Europe (CSMEE), to handle the applications.

Please help distribute the announcement below to persons who might be interested in applying for such a grant.

INTERNATIONAL CONGRESS OF MATHEMATICIANS 2002 IN BEIJING.

A Notice by the Committee for Support of Mathematicians from Eastern Europe
(CSMEE)

Please find below the application form for mathematicians with residence in Eastern Europe and Independent States of the Formal Soviet Union for grants to attend ICM2002.

The funds of the CMS for financial support are limited. To secure the participation of as many persons as possible the CSMEE will only support local costs (registration and lodging) in Beijing. Travel grants are not available! Every person applying for a grant from CSMEE is expected to cover travel expenses from other sources.

All participants, who would like to apply for financial support, are kindly asked to fill out the application form below in brief.

DEADLINE (for the submission of applications):JANUARY 1, 2002

All applications will be reviewed and all applicants will be informed about the result immediately after MAY 1, 2002
