This year, Rio de Janeiro will be hosting important events related to mathematics, among them, ICM 2018. We are looking forward
to working with the enthusiasm of volunteers to help us make this event a success.
If you'd like to be an ICM 2018 volunteer, now is the time to apply!
Volunteers will be helping in areas including: Registration, Plenary Sessions, General Information, Tourist Information, etc.
To apply to be volunteer at ICM 2018 - International Congress of Mathematicians, held August 1-9, 2018,
in the city of Rio de Janeiro, you must sign up on the website and meet the following basic requirements:
After the four stages, the candidates selected will proceed to the training phase, which will be specific
to the area of activity, and participate in the training at the venue and facilities. Details about the
training will be sent by email to the successful candidates.
The training will be divided into three modules:
The length of the training may vary according to the area of activity. Provisional certificates will not be issued
during the training period; however, for volunteers who make their request in advance, a statement of attendance
will be issued detailing training day(s) and time(s).
Only after completing all selection and training stages will the candidate be able to assume their position as a volunteer.
Volunteers residing outside the City of Rio de Janeiro must participate in the training session or they will be disqualified.
The ICM2018 Organizing Committee shall not be responsible for providing legal justification for school, college or work absences.
A statement will be provided to volunteers who need and request one; it will be provided at the end of the work day and
indicate time of arrival and departure.

Volunteers may be requested to work during the pre-event, which includes a period of up to 3 days prior to the above period.
