- Applications will be received from April 15, 2017 to October 15, 2017
- The list of grantees will be published by November 30, 2017
Applications to the "Open Arms" travel grants will be evaluated by four selection panels, one for each of the developing regions:
Latin America
Eastern Europe
Africa
Asia and Pacific
The selection will be merit-based with special attention given to participation by early-career mathematicians
(those within 10 years of earning a PhD degree, including advanced PhD students) and women, as well as to
geographic balance. The exact amount of each award will depend on the committee's evaluation and budget constraints.
We clarify that mathematicians holding *permanent* positions at institutions in non-eligible countries are
automatically non-eligible to Open Arms travel grants.

- List of publications
For advanced graduate students and postdocs, the list of publications should include a brief description of their PhD thesis work.
Early career mathematicians are also suggested to submit an additional recommendation letter. In order to do that, applicants should
provide in the application form the contact information of a senior mathematician who has agreed to write a letter supporting the application.
Letter-writers will be contacted directly with instructions on how to upload their letters.
