1. The photograph shows folio 12 verso of the Vigilanus Codex. At the upper side of the second column a primitive version of our current numbers can be seen; observe how numbers 1, 2, 6, 7, 8 and 9 show their current shape, while numbers 3, 4 and 5 appear slightly modified.
